The New Year

As we close out this year and step into a new one, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what matters most. Prayer is a beautiful way to pour out our hearts to God, but as D.L. Moody said, "Prayer is talking to God, while the Bible is God talking to us." To grow in our relationship with God, we need both, a life of prayer and a life grounded in His Word. It’s through Scripture that we truly hear our faithful Father, who lovingly pursues us, teaches us how to love Him and others, and equips us to stand firm against evil through obedience to His truth.

This past year, I completed The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble, and it was a truly transformative journey. This chronological reading plan takes you through the Bible in the order events actually happened, helping you see God’s redemptive plan unfold from Genesis to Revelation. Each day’s reading is paired with insightful recaps that explain the context and highlight what each passage reveals about God’s character.

The Bible Recap was incredibly helpful for keeping my time in God’s Word organized and reflective. The Recap videos added another layer of understanding that made Scripture come alive in ways I hadn’t experienced before.

If you’re an audible learner, you can listen to the Bible as part of your daily routine. Hearing Scripture read aloud is a powerful way to connect with God’s Word, whether it’s during your commute, while exercising, or as part of your quiet time. There are so many great audio Bible resources and apps to make this possible, including options paired with The Bible Recap.

As we prepare for 2025, I invite you to join me in committing to spending time in God’s Word every day. Let this be the year we deepen our faith by listening to our faithful Father, learning to love Him and others, and standing firm against the challenges of life with His truth as our guide.

Let’s start 2025 with hearts open to hearing from God daily through His Word. Will you take this step with me?
