Our Team

Sandra Lee, MSW, LCSW

Sandra has been practicing psychotherapy since 2004. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work Degrees with high honors from the University of Southern California. Sandra is a licensed clinical social worker in the states of California and Colorado, having been issued licenses in 2008 and 2013 respectively. Her commitment to the field extends to education, as she has served as an adjunct professor at Colorado State University, School of Social Work, Master of Social Work Program. Additionally, Sandra has provided clinical supervision for both interns working toward their master’s degrees and therapists aiming to obtain their licenses.

With extensive experience in mental health, Sandra has worked with individuals, couples, families, and children from diverse backgrounds. She has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists and physicians, in various settings such as psychiatric outpatient clinics, urgent care, and medical inpatient and outpatient settings in Los Angeles, CA.

Sandra specializes in treating a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief/loss, OCD, trauma/PTSD (as a trained EMDR Therapist), self-esteem issues, marriage/couples issues, interpersonal/relationship issues, personality differences/issues, boundary setting, parenting concerns, family issues, and teen issues. Sandra adopts integrative approaches tailored to each client's individual needs, always grounded in her Christian faith. She believes in providing a grace-filled and compassionate environment while also incorporating the Christian worldview into her counseling practice.

As a trained EMDR therapist, Sandra utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an empirically studied modality effective in treating trauma/PTSD, anxiety, and panic disorders.

Sandra particularly enjoys working with couples in Christian counseling, finding fulfillment in enhancing communication and connection in their relationships. She believes that strong, Christ-centered partnerships can be transformative, and she is passionate about guiding couples on their journey toward deeper understanding and love. While Sandra is committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space, she may challenge clients with evidence-based methods and Christian principles. Sandra's hope is to explore clients' relationship dynamics, address challenges, and cultivate growth, both individually and as a couple, within the context of their Christian faith. Additionally, Sandra provides parenting skill support for families and offers individual counseling for clients facing various challenges, empowering them through self-awareness, communication skills, and coping strategies.

Passionate about integrating faith-based approaches, Sandra enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families in this capacity. She is also trained in providing animal-assisted therapy, and Archie, her certified therapy dog, joins her in the office a few times a week. Therapy dogs like Archie create a non-judgmental environment, offer emotional support, reduce stress, and encourage social interaction, ultimately enhancing therapy sessions for clients.

Sandra and her husband have been together for over 21 years and have a daughter. They met while serving together in worship ministry in Los Angeles and relocated to Colorado in 2012. Actively engaged in volunteering within the Northern Colorado community, James and Sandra continue to contribute positively to their community.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment." 2 Timothy 1:7

Archie, Certified Therapy Dog

Woof! Hello there, wonderful friends! I'm Archie, a two-year-old Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as my love for spreading joy. I'm thrilled to share that I've earned my stripes as a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD), and you can catch me hanging out with my hu-mom, Sandra Lee, MSW, LCSW, in her office a few times a week.

As a therapy dog, my mission is to bring happiness wherever I go. I'm not just about the furry cuddles (though those are pretty great); I'm here to offer a fuzzy shoulder when things are tough, to help ease stress, and encourage some delightful social interactions. They say I might even help lower blood pressure and add an extra layer of comfort to therapy sessions – now that's some serious tail-wagging magic!

My journey to becoming a therapy dog started when I was just a little pup at 8 weeks old. My hu-mom, the amazing guide she is, led me through the ropes of socialization and obedience training. And guess what? I aced that therapy dog certification test and observations like a true champ on my first try!

What makes me stand out? Well, I've got this knack for tuning into human emotions. Call it intuition, but I've got a talent for sensing just what you need – whether it's a charming "wiggle" dance or a simple request for some good old-fashioned snuggles.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is share love and companionship. Whether I'm by your side, doing my happy dance, or just asking for a little pat on the head, I'm here to bring comfort and joy to all you fantastic folks at Sandra Lee Christian Counseling. So, if you're in need of a furry friend to brighten your day, I'm your go-to guy

— Archie, the friendly therapy dog extraordinaire! 🐾
